About Glow
Northern lights planner: the live NOAA OVATION cell, computed darkness and moon, US cloud cover and geomagnetic latitude. Every figure timestamped.
What this site does
Glow is a short-range aurora viewing window for a named place. Each page combines NOAA OVATION at the nearest grid cell, calculated civil darkness, and NWS sky cover for US cities. OVATION is a model of the next 30 to 90 minutes, not a sighting.
How the data is handled
Source timestamps are preserved. OVATION forecast and Kp fallback are labeled separately. Stale or missing feeds render as unavailable rather than estimated. The methodology page explains the checks and the limits.
Independence
Glow is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA, the National Weather Service, or GeoNames.
